our story

Celina CrossFit was established in 2018 by Ryan and Angie Peters. In fact, Ryan asked Angie to marry him on the day they had their first open workout to the public, January 1, 2019. Each one of them had a dream of owning a gym for quite some time, but with God’s perfect timing and the help of Angie’s dad, Jessie Poucher, it became a reality as they fell in love with each other.

Celina CrossFit opened with about 50 members and very quickly outgrew their first location in downtown Celina. They moved about 6 months later to a location just east of Carter Ranch. The community continued to flourish and many lives were changed in those couple of years, but God had laid a desire on Angie’s heart to keep searching for a location they could both live on and have the gym on.

In February of 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, Angie couldn’t stop thinking about a place she saw for sale. Even though they both thought it was way out of their league, something kept telling them to pursue it. It had 10 acres, a main home, a pond, and a guest home for Angie’s dad to live in. It was something neither one of them thought would come to fruition but God had different plans.

So many little miracles took place for this to become their property but the day after they sold their home, Jessie’s home and closed on the new property, they found out that Angie’s dad had cancer and only had a couple weeks to live all while they were about to have their first baby together. Although the pain of losing Angie’s dad runs deep, it’s a reminder of how much he believed in their mission of helping families live longer, healthier lives.

If you visit Celina CrossFit, you’ll probably do a few box jumps or step ups on the boxes Jessie made. Even though he was paralyzed and wheelchair bound, he built all the boxes and the front desk. In fact, if it weren’t for his legacy, Celina CrossFit wouldn’t be sitting on a beautiful piece of land with a 400 meter running track around the pond on a small private gravel road. Celina CrossFit’s mission is to provide a place that people can come to for community, family, health and fitness.

our story

CrossFit Solus was established in December of 2009. Our gym started in our 800 square foot shop with just a handful of friends and some lofty dreams that we could change the way that people thought about fitness. After seeing multiple physical transformations from our members through the CrossFit workouts and a Zone/ Paleo style diet, we knew there was something special to this program.

Our passion for CrossFit grew even stronger as we noticed the mental and emotional effects it had on people. The workouts were hard, sometime unbearable, but we were a team and we all battled it out together and bonded from it. Over time we could see the confidence, camaraderie and genuine care for our fellow athlete grow more and more each day.

In the beginning, we thought we were just selling fitness, but in reality we were developing relationships, building self confidence, overcoming insecurities, forging grittiness, learning empathy, and on top of all of the dramatic physical transformations that were in the works, the mental transformations were by far the most gratifying. Our Mission was simple, transform one life at a time. Every person that stepped foot into our gym, we made it our goal to give them best possible service and training program that we could. It didn’t matter where you came from or what your background was, for that hour of that day, we were a family and we were there to support you. A family that strived to make this the BEST hour of your day!

In 2011, me moved into our commercial location in town. As we approach year 11 of our affiliation, our vision for the future remains the same. We are in constant pursuit of excellence in all that we do and we will always strive to improve our program the best we can. Our community of athletes at CrossFit Solus are second to none. They are some of the most caring and supportive group you will ever meet. We value every relationship we get to have with all our athletes and thank God to have them in our lives.

We are not just a fitness program. At CELINA CROSSFIT we are a vehicle for life change. Anyone that has been a member at CELINA CROSSFIT for more than a few months can testify to the unique environment that is fostered by our coaching staff and our community.

This place has become a “third place” for many of our members outside of the work and home life.

It’s a place they come to unwind, work off stress and know that they can be their true authentic self.

No matter what your background is, your age, race, religion, or political beliefs… In this gym, we are all athlete on the same journey. In this gym we all root for each other. We all push each other through difficult times, we all celebrate breakthroughs both physical and mental. In this gym, we all may look and act a little different but we are all part of the CELINA CROSSFIT family.

The small ripple effect that occurs from nurturing happier healthier humans, extends from gym life to the world around us.

OWNER & HEAD COACH

Ryan has been coaching CrossFit for 6 years and he has had a personal training business of over 100 clients. He has also experienced a career ending injury when he was in high school, sparking an obsessive desire to learn more about how the body moves. His degree in kinesiology has allowed him to take a much more scientific approach to his training and programming for his athletes. He believes in building people up through intentional, progressive, training, not breaking them down with super intense workouts day-after-day. As an athlete who experienced an injury, and was told by a doctor to never lift weights with his arm again, he has a passion for helping people who are in pain. Whether it be physical pain from a past injury, or emotional pain from a life event, he knows from personal experience how CrossFit can truly change someone’s life.

Owner, Head Nutrition Coach, & CrossFit Coach

Angie found her passion for health and fitness because of her mom. Her mom was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in her early 30’s. She watched as her mom chose not to take her health seriously and the sickness progressed far quicker than it should have. She passed away in 2018, and as hard as that experience was for her, Angie has been able to use that to fuel her passion to help everyone she knows. She knows first-hand the importance of not only fitness, but nutrition. She is a L-2 Certified trainer and has been doing CrossFit for since 2012. Her knowledge and passion for helping those around her is evident the first time you meet her.

I’ve been doing CrossFit since April 2016 and coaching since Dec of 2016.

Over the years people have asked why I do CrossFit and enjoy it so much. Well simple question with a very complex answer, and a question with several answers. BUT!! Out of all the answers there’s 2 answers that are the most important to me. First I want to honor and glorify my Father in Heaven in ALL I do, mentally physically, in everything. The second reason is my family and the people I have the privilege to coach: to lead, to not be to proud to follow, to inspire, to be inspired! I want to be an example my girls can inspire to be, to be the lady my son grows up and looks for in other ladies, to be the best wife my husband could ever want! CrossFit helps me with all that and the amazing friends I’ve made doing this is just an added bonus.

Brad Vaughn

Brad has been training CrossFit for over 10 years and has personally seen the results of a healthy lifestyle in his day job as a police officer and as a father of 4 young kids. Brad has previously been a CrossFit coach in Afghanistan for 6 months where he ran Kandahar CrossFit in 2017. He has also spent several years as a police academy physical fitness instructor. Brad has a passion that’s contagious and everyone that knows him refers to him as “such a great guy”. We are so happy to have Brad as not only a coach at Celina CrossFit, but a role model and friend to us all.
